WW2 P.O.W. Camps in the UK

ww2pow.uk

Aim:

To publish information about Prisoner of War (pow) camps that existed in the UK from 1939 to 1948.

There are many groups and individuals with an interest in pow camps in the UK during World War 2: historians, (general, local, military, postal), photographers, genealogists, metal-detectorists, walking-groups and the generally curious. I started collecting information about the camps as an amateur postal historian.

Click on INDEX for a list of camps and entries for each. NOTE – camps listed under their LOWEST allocated number. Recommend use of ‘search’ at top of list if you cannot find a camp.

Click on DETAILS for updates, further information about pow camps in the UK, and links.

With the amount of detail – and sometimes incorrect source information – it is very easy to make mistakes – do let me know of those you spot. Details in red are uncertain.

If you have more information I would be delighted to receive it.
